WTF is up with these people? Well, we've got enough reported cases to call it an outbreak, epidemic, pandalerium, etc. but due to privacy concerns we can't tell you where.

Then why even mention it in the first place?

It wont be a problem for anyone if everyone practices standard hygiene. Many of us carry it - it only causes a problem when it gets into another place on the body that isn't cleaned properly (cut/scrape/etc.).

So wearing a tyvek suit every time I go within 10 miles of Staphalachia is overkill?

I will add a disclaimer:
While open wounds are the most likely and most common source of entry for staph, it can manifest itself elsewhere (although not often).

My infection many years ago was resipiratory - but then again I probably caught it from myself. Some of those critters must have gotten loose on me.
